March 28, 2007first tourhi! came back from our first tour on sunday afternoon...it was a very interesting experience!! was fabulous but there were some definite new experiences! Chipping Norton was the first venue and it was seriously tiny...the theatre looked like a cottage from the front and the only way to distinguish it was the that there was a 'theatre' sign in curly writing on the front of it...otherwise I would have mistaken it for someone's house! the get in was slightly stressful, but afterwards emma and I went and had a calming cup of tea outside this tea and bookshop (their chocolate brownies were amazing!!) I also have a confession to make...I was late onstage for Overleap! That will never happen again...it's the most sickening feeling to hear the music you're supposed to be dancing to and you're in the wings!!!! anyway...our coach driver didn't come and collect us after the performance and get-out, so after a looooong eventful wait we got back to our Burford Travelodge...anyway without writing a book...we then went to Abergavenny in Wales (after getting on the coach at 7am.) the theatre was in the middle of a market place so people were watching us take the equipment out of the van and making suitably helpful 'you girls are strong!' comments..which was nice! the stage was more of a normal size compared to chipping norton which was beautiful but boxlike! anyway, I've got ballet in an hour, so must go, but I could write forever...so many stories from only 4 days away! before I go...we're performing 'Christopher Bruce's piece 'Shift' at the Linbury ROH on Saturday for the final of the Young British Dancer of the Year...so excited...rehearsing on Friday!!!! must go x

March 17, 2007a little late...hi! Its been a very long time since I wrote last! So much has been happening, mainly a huge amount of rehearsals but also our first performance!!! we were in Ilford at the Kenneth More Theatre on the 14th, well we'd been there from Monday doing tech rehearsals and dress rehearsals. it was the first time that I had danced in the peurt -a -beul costume (which is a high neck, long sleeved jumper) and i got seriously hot! but personally I think the best part of the costume (fresh from the opera house) is my red skirt and very large red sloggi pants, they add the finishing touch to the fun! Our audience at Ilford were wonderful...they laughed in all the right places, which always helps our acting as we feel that we can really play up to it. puert a beul has become my favourite work, so I'll try not to ramble on about it too much...the choreographer Will Tuckett came in to rehearse us and he is the most dynamic, engertic choreographer I've ever worked with! It was wonderful, but he was so specific to the last detail that the next day I was soooo achy! my legs were ready to fall off! anyway, seeing that I haven't been able to stop myself rambling, I need to go to an Overleap rehearsal...we're getting ready for the Chipping Norton tour and the stage is considerably smaller than Ilford...in fact its smaller than anything!!! write soon...sooner than last time anyway! x

March 12, 2007Second EntryWell here we have the second entry into my Blog. A lot has changed since you last heard from me. We have two days left till our first performance of the tour in Ilford. It is a very exciting time yet it is also very busy and tiring. I am also suffering a bit with an injury in my back which is very annoying. Finally all the pieces are coming together and we did our first full run in costume last Friday which went really well. Tomorrow we have got our first dress rehearsal in the theatre that I am really looking forward to but the pressure is really on as the whole of the rest of the school is watching. Today we did our first “get in” of the tour, which went really well. This entails us putting all of the lights together and laying our dance floor ready for performing on. By the end of the tour the get in is usually very efficient and about 30 minutes long so we didn’t do badly to do it today in just an hour. In the show this week in am in 5 pieces which is quite a lot but I really enjoy all of them. I will write again to let you all know how the first night goes. Can’t believe we have got to this point already. This year seems to be going so fast!!! Write soon. xx
