With 1999 marking the eightieth anniversary of Dame Margot Fonteyn's birth, the Royal Academy of Dancing is proud to be hosting this conference about its late President.

Leading artists, scholars and critics of dance have agreed to contribute to this forum, including:

Irina Baronova, Leslie Edwards, Julia Farron, Cynthia Harvey, Alastair Macaulay (Keynote Speaker), Monica Mason, Pamela May and Dame Antoinette Sibley.

An exciting programme of lectures, lecture demonstrations and panel discussions will tackle a broad range of topics, including Fonteyn's technique and artistry, her role as star figure or icon, her work with Frederick Ashton and other choreographers, her teachers, her place in the development of British ballet style.

The conference is open to the public and will take place at the Royal Academy of Dancing headquarters in Battersea. The programme consists of a Reception on the Friday evening, followed by two full days of lectures.
