Royal Ballet and Japan....

by Hiromi Matsumoto

It is a great honour to tell you that we are ready to send petitions to ROH this weekend with 520 signatures on them!

I told the complete story why the RB should suffer this difficult time now and a lot of ballet fans collected signatures around themselves. We hope that it helps achieve a better future for the Royal Ballet.

Now is the time to tell you about the detailed schedule on RB Japan tour 1999. It is very iinteresting because casts are included!

Sunday 11 April Swan Lake (Guillem, Cope ) Kanagawa
Friday 16 April Swan Lake (Durante, Acosta) Tokyo
Saturday 17 April Swan Lake (Bussell, Urlezaga) Tokyo
Sunday* 18 April Swan Lake (Yoshida, Sansom) Tokyo
Sunday 18 April Swan Lake (Guillem, Cope) Tokyo

Tuesday 20 April La Fille (Yoshida, Acosta) Tokyo
Wednesday 21 April La Fille (MacDermott, Cassidy) Tokyo
Thursday 22 April La Fille (Hatley, Sansom) Tokyo

Friday 23 April Manon (Guillem, Cope) Tokyo
Saturday 24 April Manon (Bussell, Zelensky) Tokyo
Sunday* 25 April Manon (Durante, Sansom) Tokyo
Sunday 25 April Manon (Guillem, Cope) Tokyo

* are matinees
I think the most interesting cast of all is Viv and Acosta dancing together in Swan Lake. I hope I can ask one word from her when she dances Odette/Odile nest week here in Tokyo.

Just pity there are no Sarah Wildor, Leanne Benjamin nor Irek Mukhamedov especially no Irek in Manon means no pudding in Christmas!? and maybe the ticket prices will be very expensive.

{The Royal Ballet tour goes to other cities in Japan and will bring you casting as soon as we have it: Ed}
