(The following is as it appeared on the Ballet.co Postings Page) Stephanie recently reported fairly thoroughly on this company, so I'll be brief here. I saw RNB's 'Sleeping Beauty' at the Wimbledon Theatre last night and LOVED it, flaws and all. The dancers were all thoroughly professional, but some of them were outstanding, particularly Renata Petrova as the Lilac Fairy. She has the most beautiful line and a fine and secure technique. It would be unfair to the other dancers to say that she looked as if she belonged in a major national company, but in fact she did. Also of note was either Grigory Ustiantsev or Khasan Ousmanov as the Bluebird (last night's cast sheet helpfully gave both names!). He too looked as if he belonged elsewhere. All this on a post-card sized stage!
There are three more performances at Wimbledon, tonight and tomorrow afternoon and evening - I'd say it was well worth a visit.
