The Royal Ballet School enjoys a worldwide recognition as a great Institution. The Upper school was established in 1947 and now has an annual intake of between 35 and 40 for its 2 year course.

Entry is from the ages of 16-19 and students have the opportunity to study A level dance and one other A subject. The pass rates for A levels (1998) was 93.3% overall.

Performance opportunities are available at the School's annual performance in July and with the Royal Ballet and Birmingham Royal Ballet companies.

Graduates include Royal Ballet principals, Darcey Bussell, Deborah Bull and Jonathan Cope.

Audition details
As a guideline for entry girls should have attained at least intermediate standard and be able to work on pointe every day. Boys should be of elementary standard.

Auditions are held throughout the UK and overseas between November and February. Overseas students can also apply by video.
