We update these words generally once per year. Here is the view in May 2004.

A company with a heritage stretching right back to the earliest days of British ballet in the 1920's. Rambert moved away from classic ballet in the 1960's and changed name (from Ballet Rambert) in 1987, consolidating their new position.

In December 2002 Mark Baldwin became director taking over from the safe and thoughtfully popularist Christopher Bruce. Although it is still early days in Baldwin's tenure he seems to putting more emphasis on innovation and new work. This freshness is generally critically acclaimed and we hope heralds a growth in audience numbers too.

A great British company and if up until now you have only ever seen the ballet classics you owe it to yourself to see a Rambert show.
