Ballet Association website

Once a month the Ballet Association interviews a member of the Royal Ballet or Birmingham Royal Ballet. We are now carrying regular 'official' reports of these meetings both as postings, for speed and comment, but primarily as an important ingredient of our monthly magazine.

If you've never been to a BA talk hopefully you will before too long - these reports having well whetted your appetite I'm sure!

What follows is the Ballet Association's own information about itself and how to join. They are great institution and we commend them to you...

  • Do you attend performances by the Royal Ballet?
  • Do you admire them as a great company?
  • Are you interested in showing your ‘support’?
  • Would you like to hear more about the company from dancers themselves?
   Join The Ballet Association....

Who are we? A group of ballet enthusiasts set up over 25 years ago for fellow ballet enthusiasts to support the Royal Ballet Companies through interest in and loyalty to them.

What do we do? Our main activity is to hold monthly meetings at which dancers talk about their career/repertoire/interests in an informal interview structure with plenty of opportunity for the audience to ask their own questions.

Who comes to speak? In recent years, we’ve welcomed many speakers from principal stars such as Carlos Acosta, Leanne Benjamin, Sylvie Guillem, Johan Kobborg and Sarah Wildor to up-and-coming artists like Marianela Nuñez and Edward Watson and illustrious ex-dancers such as Pamela May, Dame Antoinette Sibley and Donald MacLeary.

Where are the meetings? At the Swedenborg Hall in Holborn every month during the season (never on a ballet night!)

What else is there? An annual dinner, which is attended by many members of the company; also informal meeting opportunities at performances. We also recognise service to the company through leaving and retirement gifts to dancers as well as donations to specific appeals (e.g. the Royal Ballet School Development).

How do I keep in touch? We send out a monthly newsletter, which, alternatively, you can receive by e-mail, if you prefer.

How much does it cost? Full membership is £15.00 for the whole year (£22.50 for two persons at the same address) and £7.00 for concessions. Meetings are £3.00 entry (£2.00 concessions).

How do I join? Just fill in the form and send with a cheque to:
