"Newbie Adult Ballet"
| |
I'm sure this has been asked a million times before but I'd be really grateful for your advice and thoughts. I'm 30 years old and not incredibly fit though I am slim and swim reasonably regularly. I did ballet quite intensively up until I was 13, including quite a lot of pointe work, but have not done a stroke since, though I have done some other dancing - did lindy hop for a while, also tango. I'd really like to start ballet lessons again - both from a fitness/flexibility point of view (i'm sure it would be good for me) and also because it was something I adored as a child and I'd really like to something active that I actually enjoy! When I read this board I'm never quite sure whether 'adult ballet' refers to people who are taking ballet classes but are actually dancers of other styles or people who have at least been keeping ballet up slowly for years. Is it realistic of me to think about taking lessons or are they really not for people like me? Also, I'm in London - i've read about Pineapple and Danceworks but both sound like quite big classes full of experienced dancers, not really for me I think! Does the English National Ballet still run classes and if so when, I can't find it on their website. Anyone got any good recommendations of where to find classes? Thank you! |
