"TEATRO ALLA SCALA STRIKE ? SYLVIE'S MANON CANCELLED ?"
I hate to gossip, BUT I have heard that the Italian newspapers are running a story about the cancellation of Manon performances (including Sylvie Guillem's dates ) due to a strike caused by lack of dressing room space for the Corp de Ballet at La Scala! We have booked a weekend trip based around Sylvie's performance on the 21st October so any info that anyone has would be very much appreciated! (Can't find anything on the official site).

Unfortunately it is not a gossip but a real news ( http://www.ilgiornale.it/a.pic1?ID=32120) A strike has been announced for all the performances of the ballet. A lot of people I know have planned a trip to Milan to attend a performance and I can understand the disappointment and delusion. Anyway I suggest to keeping in touch day by day the situation as we all trust that -as the premiere is scheduled in 10 days- there are possibilities to find a solution.

Phil, I think you will be updated fast by this website : http://www.balletto.net This website is once started by about 4 or 5 corps de ballet dancers of La Scala. Don't know how the current situation is but very likely they will inform you about new evolutions. I cross my fingers for you both !!!! But : I wouldn't desperate too much yet ! You'll never get to eat the soup as hot as she's served in Italy and I see Mr.Olivieri as a good diplomat...so time will tell !

Good news, just right now. The announced strike of la Scala Ballet Company has been cancelled and the performances of 'Manon' will be regularly. Enjoy Sylvie's terrific Manon and Murru's moving Des Grieux
