"Ballet.co was down"

The server people planned an upgrade for last night and sad to say it has dragged on through much of the working day today - Sunday. Huge appologies and my doesn't it seem a strange world without us! As with any work on a server there can be the occasional after shock, but hopefully we are all ok now. BM |

Bruce, I've done the do to get the links database search working again. I know in the past I've said to you that this should come back automagically after a reboot but clearly I lied! (or was mistaken ) BUT... when the site came back postings didn't work at all and neither did the "Go" button on the lobby screen. I tracked this down to a missing directory ~public_html/cgi-bin/dcforum/User_info/Tempfiles I've created this directory and posting and "Go" started working again. The worry I have is Why was this directory missing and what happens now? The directory is merrily accumulating temporary files and will continue to do so, unless something cleans it out periodically. I think really this directory should be a symlink to /tmp (which will need perms changing) as /tmp should get cleaned out by the system. |

I had withdrawal symptoms! Seriously, Bruce, can you or Trog explain this? If I switch the main link for "Doing Dance", say, it goes back to 2005 and FuschiaAttic's post (I don't think she posts anymore?) I cannot get anything more recent unless I press the "New posts" link, but I would like to be able to see posts from last year, say, and either my computer, or the site, won't let me do this. Thanks, Fiz. |

Thanks, Fiz.You have a cookie problem and it is very easy to fix. When you access a ballet.co Forum, the four headings "Discussion Topic", "Author", "Last Updated Date/Author" and "Replies" are actually links and if you click on one, it changes the order topics are displayed in. For example, if you click on the replies link, then the topics are ordered so that with the most replies is at the top of the list. To get the postings in a sensible order, click on the "Last Updated Date/Author" link. HTH |
